- 2 whole chickens cut into 4 pieces each
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 ½ tablespoons ginger paste
- 2 tablespoons garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons Kashmiri chili powder
- 1 tablespoon red chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon red food color
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 1 ½ tablespoons salt or to taste
- ½ cup oil for cooking
- 1 piece of coal for smoky flavor
Clean the chicken and cut each into 4 pieces.
Mix all the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
Coat the chicken pieces with the marinade and let it rest for at least 4 hours.
Heat oil in a large pot and add the marinated chicken.
Cook on high heat for 5-6 minutes, then reduce heat to medium-low.
Cook until the juices dry and the chicken is tender.
Smoke the chicken using coal for 5 minutes.
Serve hot with rice or naan.
