Ingredients
  

  • 2 whole chickens cut into 4 pieces each
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 ½ tablespoons ginger paste
  • 2 tablespoons garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons Kashmiri chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red food color
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 ½ tablespoons salt or to taste
  • ½ cup oil for cooking
  • 1 piece of coal for smoky flavor

Instructions
 

  • Clean the chicken and cut each into 4 pieces.
  • Mix all the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
  • Coat the chicken pieces with the marinade and let it rest for at least 4 hours.
  • Heat oil in a large pot and add the marinated chicken.
  • Cook on high heat for 5-6 minutes, then reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Cook until the juices dry and the chicken is tender.
  • Smoke the chicken using coal for 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice or naan.
